TRACE32® supports PIL for Simulink®

Hoehenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn, January 2016 – Lauterbach GmbH, the leading manufacturer of microprocessor development tools, has recently announced its extended support for Processor-in-the-Loop (PIL) for Simulink.

PIL is a powerful tool used for the early detection of errors and design flaws during unit testing. Using PIL the software unit can be verified in the test environment which corresponds as closely as possible to the production target environment. The test cases from model level verification can be fully reused ensuring functional equivalence of model and object code.

TRACE32 PIL is a fully integrated plugin for Simulink that implements a customizable workflow to streamline the setup of PIL tests. It is an extension of previous approaches that includes automatic interface analysis at the source code level and allows the existing development environment to be used.

This universal approach is independent from the code generation process. Therefore both auto-generated and hand-written code will be supported. Due to its close coupling with TRACE32 it supports a multitude of different target platforms and provides plug and play target support. In addition, the full feature set of TRACE32 becomes available during model-based testing. TRACE32 PIL can be seamlessly integrated into existing toolchains and various built-in toolchains will be supported.
