TRACE32® Supports PXROS-HR
Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn, Germany, December 2011 - LAUTERBACH, the leading manufacturer of microprocessor development tools now supports the latest version of the enhanced real-time operating system PXROS-HR from HighTec with its TRACE32 Debugger tools. PXROS-HR uses the memory protection of the CPU, making it suitable for safety critical systems. Furthermore, it allows downloading additional tasks dynamically at run time. TRACE32 is extended for a PXROS-HR aware debugging with its JTAG Debuggers as well as downloading and debugging the dynamically loaded PXROS-HR tasks via Ethernet.
Both companies, Lauterbach and HighTec, work close together to make the OS and the debugger understand each other. The goal is to provide the best OS environment and debugging solutions to their mutual customers.
TRACE32, the debugger toolset of Lauterbach, supports the PXROS versions 4, 5 and 6. The debugger provides full access to the system software and all tasks, either with or without a memory protection unit. You can inspect all OS objects such as tasks, mailboxes, messages etc. An unlimited number of breakpoints, either global or task specific, is available. A dynamic performance analysis collects run time data over time and gives an overview of the task and function performance, even if no real-time trace is available. If a real-time trace is connected to the target, highly sophisticated analysis is available for task and function run times, timings and statistics and for function nesting.
PXROS-HR supports the MPU of the CPU, protecting the tasks' address spaces against each other. Hence, a critical error in one task can no longer cause a crash in an other tasks and allows a graceful handling of such an error. Furthermore, tasks can now be created dynamically, that is, a task can be downloaded onto the target via Ethernet. New features can be inserted to the running system without having to update and restart the complete system software.
TRACE32 added a new functionality to its software, which allows connecting to the PXROS-HR target via Ethernet. You can download tasks onto the running target using TRACE32 and you can debug those tasks individually over the Ethernet connections - which enables you to debug your tasks even over the Internet.
Both solutions in combination, the TRACE32 JTAG debugger and the Ethernet debugger for dynamic tasks, gives you full flexibility in developing applications for PXROS-HR based targets.
The PXROS-HR support is currently available for Infineon TriCore solutions. It is continuously being enhanced.
