Signal considerations for MPC5XXX/SPC5XXX
- When the debugger is inactive (SYStem.Mode.DOWN and NoDebug), all output pins are tri-stated (hot-plug capability)
- In 1149.7 (cJTAG) mode, following signals change:
- TMS (pin 2) becomes TMSc
- TCK (pin 4) becomes TCKc
- TDI/TDO (pins 6, 8) become N/C (tristated)
- If the 10-pin connector is used:
- The JCOMP pin of the processor (if available) has to be pulled HIGH for debugging.
- Processor external watchdogs have to be disabled (e.g. by jumper)
- Debugging/tracing through reset is not supported for all processors.
- If the pins EVTI and EVTO are assigned to functions other than debugging (e.g. GPIO), do not connect these signals to the debug connector.

Signal considerations for TriCore JTAG
- When the debugger is in SYStem.Mode DOWN the RESET- pin is pulled low. In SYStem.Mode NoDebug all output pins are tri-stated (hot-plug capability)
- The OCDS- signal is only required for older TriCore devices, e.g. TC1765, TC1775. For all other devices the signal can optionally be used to disable an external watchdog.
- BRKIN- and BRKOUT- are optional signals not required for debugger operation. In case they are used as regular GPIO pins do not connect them to the debug connector.

Signal considerations for TriCore DAP
- When the debugger is in SYStem.Mode DOWN the RESET- pin is pulled low. In SYStem.Mode NoDebug all output pins are tri-stated (hot-plug capability)
- BRKIN- and BRKOUT- are optional signals not required for debugger operation. They can either be mapped to GPIO pins or the unused TDI or TDO pins.
|
General Pin and Signal Considerations
- Pin 7 is a keying pin and has to be removed from the target connector.
- When the debug session is active, the voltage level of a signal driven HIGH matches the voltage level on the VTREF pin.
- VTREF can be connected directly to target VDD, or optional with a serial resistor of 1kOhm or less.
- Input impedance on VTREF: ~50 kOhm (to be confirmed)
- All JTAG/DAP output signals of the debug cable have a built-in serial termination of 47 Ohm. The signals should be directly connected to the processor - further termination on the target system is not recommended.
- RSTIN is an open-drain output. RSTIN and RSTOUT support a voltage level of max 5V, independent of the VTREF voltage level.
- If the signal TRST/JCOMP is not available on the used processor/package type, leave the pin on the debug connector unconnected.
- EXTIO (pin 26) is a software configurable input/open-drain-output with a 10k pull-up. Reserved for future use.
