Target Connector Placement

The adaption uses a 22-pin Samtec connector. Recommendation is to place the even numbered pins at the PCB border side so the flex cable won't be twisted.

Pinout

Trace Signals

VREF is mandatory for a correct operation of the preprocessor. Keep unused lanes unconnected.

Debug Signals

The pinout of the 22-pin Samtec connector optionally includes the debug signals. The trace converter has a 16-pin JTAG connector and an AUTO26 connector where the user can plug the Debug Cable. This saves the need for a separate debug connector on the target.

The debug signals are TCK, TMS, TRST-, TDI, TDO, RESET- and TRIG (user defined). By default, the TRIG pin is connected to the OCDSE-/WDTDIS signal of the debug cable. This allows controlling an external watchdog, see chapter "Controlling an External Watchdog" in Application Note Debug Cable TriCore. For special cases only there is a soldering option to route the TRIG pin to the BRKIN-, BRKOUT- or USER0 signal of the debug cable. Contact technical support for more information.

Alternatively the Debug Cable can be plugged on a separate debug connector (JTAG, DAP or AUTO) on the target. In this case there is no need to connect the debug signals to the 22-pin Samtec connector. This avoids stubs and may improve signal quality.
